Easy Steps For Instantly Becoming An Achievement Magnet CD #1
John: Step number one is you get this red hot burning why, your passion, your reason. After you develop a purpose, what’s step number two?
James: Step number two is you have to get rid of the excuses and you have to focus on solutions. If you concentrate on all of the excuses why you can’t achieve what it is you want to achieve, you’ll never find the solutions for how you could achieve what it is you would like to achieve. Whether it’s financially, personally, professionally you have got to get rid of the excuses.
You’ve got to get over what I call the some day syndrome. “Some day I’ll get started.” “Some day I’m gonna do that.” “Some day I’m going to go to a higher level.” No some day is today. You got to not be an I gotta person. You know what an I gotta person is right?
John: Tell me
James: I gotta do this. I gotta do that. No get off your butt and do it.
John: Stop talking about it and just do it.
James: Absolutely. Don’t be an I gotta person. Focus on solutions, not excuses. Now the problem is, we as human beings have a tendency, its human nature, to create excuses for why we’re not pushing ourselves. We have pretty darn good excuses why.
“Oh I’d like to achieve more, but….” “I’d like to be more successful, but…” “I’d like to close more sales, but…” “I’d like to increase my income, but…” “I’d like to start my own business, but…” “I’d like to go back to school and obtain another degree, but…” “I’d like to have a really awesome relationship with somebody, but…” “I’d like to spend more time with my children, but…” “I’d like to take my family on a second vacation and travel around the world, but…” “I’d like to achieve this goal, but…” “I’d like to achieve that goal, but…”
So many times John the only thing that stops people from achieving more is what?
James: A big but. See you’ve got to get your but out of the way and concentrate on solutions not excuses. Here is why.
Every and any excuse you ever give yourself will be right because you’ll justify it in some way, shape or form and you will make it right. You have got to get away from the excuses. I always say you can be a victim or you can be victorious, but you can’t be both. You have to draw a line in the sand and say, “Look I am going to status post making excuses. I’m putting them on this side and I am staying on this side where the solutions are and i’m going to go out and do what I want to do.”
With that being said, I have four strategies for creating what you want. Four little strategies that will help you to focus on solutions and get rid of the excuses.
Number one is you’ve got to watch your self talk. You have to watch how you talk to yourself. You can’t be putting yourself down. You can’t be talking negatively about yourself. You can’t be saying things like “Oh I’m stupid. I’m a loser. I’m never going to be anything.” You need to get rid of that self talk because that’s how you’re programming your mind and your subconscious mind is going to perform how you tell it to perform. It doesn’t analyze and it doesn’t reject.
We have 2 parts of our mind. We have our conscious, which is the part we’re thinking with right now, and we think with all day and we have our subconscious. When we go to sleep every night our subconscious stays awake and our conscious goes to sleep. All during the night, our subconscious never sleeps. It accepts without a doubt anything you program into it. It is like a computer. It is always working. It doesn’t reject. It doesn’t analyze. It doesn’t say this isn’t good so we shouldn’t let that into the computer file. It just absorbs.
If your conscious mind constantly tells your subconscious mind that you’re no good and you’re a loser then that is what you’re programming yourself for. You’re setting yourself up for failure. You’re setting yourself up for struggling, anxiety and frustration. Why would you do that to yourself?
You are too good for that. You have to start programming with positive affirmations and believe that you are a winner. You can achieve more, it doesn’t matter if somebody talks negatively about you, you’re not going to let it sink in.
Here’s why that’s so important. It’s a very simple concept called GIGO. Garbage in, garbage…
James: No that is not true. They lied to you John. They lied to you listening. GIGO. Garbage in, garbage stays. Garbage grows. Garbage manifests, garbage stinks. Garbage takes over and destroys and then garbage comes out and influences your life and others in a negative manner.
It’s also called GIGO, great in, great stays. Great begins to grow. Great manifests. Great takes over. Great begins to come out and influence your life in a positive manner and influence other people’s lives in a positive manner. It’s a very simple concept.
You put bad gas in a car the car doesn’t run right. You put good gas in, it zooms along. If you don’t take the weeds out of garden the flowers or vegetables or whatever it is will die.
It is no different for our minds. You’ve got to cleanse that out. You’ve got to clean that garden out. You’ve got to clean your mind of all of that negative garbage and those negative thoughts and start putting good thoughts in. You do that through your self talk. How you talk to yourself. How you think about yourself.
I learned this from a close friend of mine, Jack Canfield, who’s the Co-Creator of the Best Selling book series Chicken Soup for the Soul. Any time you’ve got a negative thought that flies into your mind I would like you to instantly say cancel, cancel and replace it with a positive thought.
It will take time to train your subconscious. Psychologists say it takes 21 days to create a new habit. Any time for the next 21 days when something negative pops into your mind, “I can’t make this sale.”
You say, “Cancel, cancel” and you reverse it and say, “I will make this sale.”
“I can’t have a great relationship.” “Cancel, cancel.” I’ll have a great relationship. I might not know how to do it, but I’ll figure out the how. I know I’ll have that great relationship or I’ll make the sale or I’ll start my own business.”
“I can’t go to college because nobody in my family went to college.” Cancel, Cancel.
“I will go to college. It doesn’t matter where I started. It only matters where I decide to finish. It doesn’t matter if no one in my family went to college. I will be the first one. I will do it I just have to figure out what I need to do to get in college.”
Does that make sense?
